The Handshake.
Here are some tips to help ensure that your handshake gives a positive first impression:
HELPFUL HINT:
Always stand up - Whether you are a man or a woman you should always rise to shake hands.
Face the person - Make sure you face the person squarely, not at an angle.
Keep your thumbs up - Keep your fingers together with your thumbs up and open. This sends a signal that you want to “work together”.
Hold and squeeze firmly - Squeeze firmly, but certainly not in a “bone-crushing” vice-grip. Hold the hand for about three seconds.
Make direct eye contact - Maintain eye contact and hold the gaze throughout the entire handshake.
